Controversial LIV Golf star Anthony Kim raised eyebrows on social media this week with a bizarre motivational message as he prepares for the Saudi-backed series' next event in Spain.

Kim, who has struggled in his return to professional golf after a long absence, took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to compare his work ethic to that of a drug addict.

"Good morning. Does a crakhead (sic) ever let a day go by w/out finding a way to get high? NO. I would know," Kim wrote. "Not gonna let a crakhead (sic) outwork me today. 1% better today lessssgoo!!!"

The cryptic message alludes to Kim's well-documented past battles with addiction and injuries that caused him to disappear from the PGA Tour for several years in the mid-2010s. He has been open about struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues during his time away from golf.

Kim's return to the pro ranks this season with LIV Golf has so far failed to live up to the hype. Through the first three events in Miami, Nashville, and Houston, he has yet to crack the top-30 and sits near the bottom of the league's standings.

His best finish was 46th at the Nashville tournament last month, where he shot an even-par score over 54 holes. Critics have questioned whether the 39-year-old still has the physical and mental ability to compete at the highest level.

Kim will look to turn his fortunes around when LIV Golf resumes its inaugural season at the Andalucía Champions Week in Spain. But his latest bizarre social media antics are unlikely to silence those doubting his comeback.

Only time will tell if the mercurial talent can once again find his top form, or if his return to golf will go down as just another lost chapter in an oft-troubled career.

What are Anthony Kim's main health challenges he faced during his hiatus

Addiction and Mental Health Issues:

Due to his addictive behavior and involvement in a party and drinking lifestyle, his mental health issues got worse.

Even when he wasn't playing golf, his mental health was steadily declining because of addiction and other mental health problems.

He was in a "bad mental place" struggling with these issues.

Multiple Surgeries:

He underwent shoulder surgeries during his time away from the game.

He had hand surgery.

He required a spinal fusion procedure.

He dealt with an Achilles tendon injury.

The numerous surgeries and injuries took a toll on his physical health.

Isolation and Dark Moments:

He was depressed to the point of isolation, even in social situations.

There were moments when he expressed suicide thoughts or ideas since he didn't know how long he had left.

He needed to focus on getting expert assistance and treatment to help him improve his mental health.
