Golfaq exclusive - The golf world was buzzing last weekend when Late Night host Jimmy Fallon faced off against music mogul DJ Khaled in the inaugural Cardigan Classic charity match. Played over four crazy holes at Lake Tahoe's scenic Edgewood Resort, this one was truly anything goes.

The celebrity charity golf match took place on Saturday at Edgewood Tahoe Resort in Nevada as part of the 35th American Century Championship tournament.
The Cardigan Classic featured Fallon taking on Khaled in a four-hole contest with modified rules including one "mulligan" or do-over per player. The winner would receive a red cardigan sweater and $100,000 to donate to their chosen charity.
In front of thousands of spectators at the lakefront course, Fallon and Khaled engaged in a spirited but friendly competition. According to Fallon, the two had "the most fun two humans could have" despite some pressure playing in front of the large crowd. At one point, Fallon even hit a lucky shot that bounced off a tree directly onto the green.

However, the rain delayed the start of their match. Once play resumed, Fallon and Khaled played the course's 17th and 18th holes twice to complete the four holes. In the end, it was Fallon who emerged victorious, claiming the cardigan and $100,000 charity prize.

On a recent episode of The Tonight Show, Fallon revealed he had challenged Khaled to the inaugural Cardigan Classic matchup. Though joking he didn't actually know Khaled personally, Fallon said the musician has been a guest on his show before. Fallon hinted his NBC network may air footage from the hour-long exhibition match at a future date.

With his win in the charity event, Fallon continues to demonstrate his talent and competitive spirit for golf. Several other celebrities participated in the full American Century Championship tournament featuring various sports and entertainment stars, including Travis and Jason Kelce, Miles Teller, Tony Romo, Roger Clemens and Ray Romano
While the play may have been a debacle, at least $100k was raised for worthy causes. Only time (and hopefully tape of the round) will tell if this inaugural event was beginners luck, or if we can expect many more years of Cardigan Chaos on the links!
