As an avid golfer, I know that many of you are looking to squeeze in as much golf as possible before the summer ends. Having played hundreds of rounds in August myself over the years, I can attest that the heat and humidity can really zap your energy both on the course and off. Thankfully, there are still some locales where you can enjoy gold in more moderate summer conditions.
In this article, I've highlighted 13 golf trip destinations where the temperatures tend to be a bit more tolerable than many parts of the country battling heat waves. All of the courses on this list are excellent tracks that any golfer would enjoy. I've provided brief overviews of each based on my own experiences playing them, but you can find more details on our full reviews with insight from our expert course panelists on Golfaq.com.
1. Bandon Dunes Golf Resort (Bandon, OR)
Situated along the rugged Oregon coast, this collection of five legendary sand-sculpted links never disappoints. Afternoon highs in the mild mid-70s make pounding golf balls all day quite enjoyable. My personal favorite is the giant slumbering dunes of the Pacific Dunes course, but you truly can't go wrong anywhere in this world-class band of bands. Quality accommodations, staff, and dining make it easy to while away several days exploring Mike Keiser's western kingdom.
