Even though Scottie Scheffler has won six tournaments so far in 2024, according to the stats, Bryson DeChambeau has likely had the best performance at the majors, the golf world's most prestigious event.

Through the first three majors of the season - the Masters, PGA Championship and U.S. Open - DeChambeau has dominated with an aggregate score of 28-under. This puts him a full 28 strokes better than anyone else who made the cut at all three events.

The next closest is Xander Schauffele at 23-under, followed by Collin Morikawa at 17-under. Surprisingly, Masters and PGA champion Scottie Scheffler is fourth on the list at 16-under.

DeChambeau's score of 28-under through three majors is an incredible achievement. Data Golf analysts calculate that if he can gain another 12 strokes at this week's British Open, DeChambeau will surpass 60 total strokes gained in the majors this season. Only Tiger Woods ('00, '02, '05, '07), Jordan Spieth ('15), Phil Mickelson ('15), and Ernie Els ('04) have ever accomplished that feat in the stat era since 1983.

It's clear DeChambeau is playing some of the best golf of his career. If he can finish off his dominant major season with an U.S. Open Championship victory, he will cement his place among the game's all-time greats with a historically memorable season rivaling Woods' best. Many will be watching this week at St. Andrews to see if DeChambeau can complete his major season for the ages.

Other prominent golfers, including Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and Collin Morikawa, have also had successful major campaigns. However, no one can surpass Bryson DeChambeau's 2024 results because to his frequent top finishes. Can he complete the job with one more trophy? The golfing world will be watching.

Scottie Scheffler's 2024 Season Highlights

Performance on the PGA Tour

Can we talk about how incredible Scottie Scheffler's season was last year? Dude completely dominated the PGA Tour. I lost track of how many tournaments he won, but I believe it was six or so. He completely solidified his position as one of the top dogs.

Do you remember that playoff win he had at the Travelers? I was on the edge of my seat! The way he held it together under pressure was insane.

Consistent Major Championship Performances

Now I know Bryson DeChambeau played well too in the majors. But Scheffler still hung in there, even having an off day at the US Open and scraping into the top 40. And my god, have you seen the highlights from the PGA Champs? He was hitting it like a machine.

Maintaining World #1 Ranking

It's no wonder he basically lived at #1 in the world all year with results like that. But what really blew me away was how freaking consistent he was, right in the thick of it every single month. That's the kind of form that keeps the ranking for sure.

I don't think I've ever seen a season that dominant before. Dude straight up owned it last year. Really shows you why he's the man to beat out on tour these days. Just a completely nuts season if you ask me!

How do Schauffele and Morikawa's performances this year compare to previous years

This year, Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa have both performed admirably at the major league level. However, compared to last time, their seasons are developing slightly differently.

Xander Schauffele:

Schauffele has just been lights out so far in 2024. First, second, and eighth in the first three - that's insane! And under par by like 28 shots total. Dude is a machine. Even going back to last year, he's racked up a win, two top fives, and three top 10s. Light years better than his US Open last year where he got 10th.

Collin Morikawa:

Morikawa has still been good - third, fourth, and 14th place finishes this season. But it's not quite at the same level as last year when he straight up won two majors. What a stud he was in 2023.

When you take a step back, it's clear Schauffele is having the season of his life in the majors this year. Meanwhile Morikawa, while playing well, hasn't matched that championship level he was at last season. Stats-wise, Schauffele has just been the more consistent top guy at the big events so far versus recent years for both of them.

All in all, they're both crushing it. But it seems like this has been Schauffele's year to really shine at golf's biggest tournaments. Dude is absolutely feeling it right now.

Rory McIlroy's 2024 Season

Major Performances:

Rory McIlroy has been putting up some good scores in the majors this year, even if he hasn't quite broken through for the W yet. He cracked the top 25 at the Masters, top 12 at the PGA Championship, and had his best finish as runner up at the US Open.

Other PGA Tour Highlights:

On the PGA Tour, Rory notched a couple wins - at the Wells Fargo and paired with Shane Lowry at the Zurich Classic. He also managed some other top 25 showings.

Schedule and Results:

Dude has kept himself busy playing on both the PGA and DP World Tour. On the DP World Tour side, he took second at the Dubai Invite and won the Hero Desert Classic. And his PGA Tour stats show multiple top 10s and top 25s too.

While he's still hunting that major W, Rory's consistency has him in the mix each time out. That second place at the US Open was awesome to watch. Upcoming he'll tee it up at some more big tournaments as he chases major #5. Even without the major title yet this year, Rory has definitely proven he's still one of the top dudes around with his results so far this season.
