Kai Trump, Donald Trump's granddaughter, Commits to play golf for University of Miami

In what will surely be one of the most high-profile recruitments in college golf history, sources tell Golfaq that Kai Trump has verbally committed to continue her career at the University of Miami. The 17-year-old daughter of Don Jr. and granddaughter of former POTUS Donald Trump took to Instagram earlier today to announce the news with "beyond excited".

"I would like to thank my mom, Vanessa, and my dad, Don, for always supporting me through my journey. I would also like to thank my great team for getting me to this point," she wrote on Instagram.

It's no secret that golf runs deep in the Trump family blood. Grandpa Donald is known to brag about his single-digit handicap in his younger days, and the 45th President has passed on his passion for the links to his eldest grandchild. Kai has been crushing drives and sinking long putts since she could barely see over a pitching wedge, and she's developed into one of the top-ranked junior girls players in the country under the watchful eye of her grandfather.

"I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support," she wrote.

"I would also like to thank my entire family for always encouraging and pushing me to be the best person I can possibly be. I would like to thank my friends for always cheering me on."

Sources who have watched Kai play say she has "the whole package - distance, accuracy, elite short game. And she never backs down from pressure." Sound familiar? It's easy to see the similarities between Kai's game and a certain former President who never shy's away from a challenge. The DNA is strong with this one, folks.

We caught up with Kai after her announcement to get her reaction. "Last but not least I would love to thank Coach Janice and Coach Jim for giving me this opportunity. I am supper [sic] excited to be a cane and represent the University of Miami. Gooo Canes!" she said.

We've obtained never-before-seen from inside the RNC of 17-year-old phenom Kai Trump addressing the crowd in Milwaukee.

Kai demanded to speak shortly after hearing reports that Grandpa Don had been shot in an assassination attempt. Looking confident but understandably shaken, she recounted how the former President had called her during school to check in on her golf game, just like any doting grandpa would.

"He calls me during the middle of the school day to ask how my golf game is going and tells me all about his, but then I have to remind him that I'm in school and I'll have to call him back later," Trump's granddaughter told a raucous crowd in Milwaukee.

Then comes the money quote that had even the Never-Trumpers on their feet: "On Saturday, I was shocked when I heard that he has been shot, and I just wanted to know if he was OK." The raw emotion in Kai's voice is something you have to see and hear for yourself.

From there, she launched into a fiery defense, saying "A lot of people have put my Grandpa through hell, and he's still standing.” Kai put the entire left-wing media on blast, calling them out for not showing Americans who the real Donald Trump is - "a very caring and loving" man who "truly wants the best for this country."

"Grandpa, you are such an inspiration and I love you," Kai said. "The media makes my grandpa seem like a different person. But I know him for who he is. He's very caring and loving. He truly wants the best for this country."

She closed her remarks by pledging that both she and Grandpa Don would "fight every single day to make America great again."

We also had to ask - is a certain ex-POTUS giving her any advice ahead of her college career? Only time will tell if she lives up to the lofty Trump family legacy, but one thing is for sure - college golf just got a lot more interesting. Stay tuned!
