You just know our pals over on Golf Twitter were gonna have a field day with this one. US Open champ Wyndham Clark earned his spot on Team USA at the Olympics but man is it not going well so far in Paris.

After Bryson DeChambeau just missed automatic qualification thanks to some lackluster results lately, the Bryson stans were out in full force hoping Wyndham would blow it so their guy could take his spot. And lemme tell ya, after Clark's opening round 75, the DeChambeau defenders definitely got some juicy ammo.

Clark's round could have gone even worse, with bogey, double bogey, and bogey. Two of his first three tee shots went into the water, with the other flirting with disaster/ Getty Images

It all started innocently enough on the first hole, with Clark's tee shot barely making it out of the women's tees area. But then things went from bad to UG-LY on holes 2 and 3, with Wyndham unable to even find the fairway. The golfing gods were clearly sending him a message to just pack it in early.

But it didn't end there - Clark looked totally lost for most of his round, with golf's answer to the three blind mice out there swinging from his heels. He hit more squirrely shots than a nut-hoarding chipmunk! By the end of his day, only two players had posted a higher score.

Not surprisingly, Golf Twitter absolutely torched poor Wyndham with hot takes and memes. Some highlights included:

Yikes! I'd hate to be Clark checking his notifications after that round. He's still got plenty of time to redeem himself but the uphill battle begins now. Stay tuned for more Olympic updates...and definitely more roasted takes from Twitter if Wyndham's struggles continue!
