The stars of the PGA and DP World Tours will descend on North Berwick, Scotland next week for the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club. The tournament serves as an important warm-up event for many of the game's best players ahead of the Open Championship held at St Andrews two weeks later.

Reigning champion Rory McIlroy will be looking to defend his title after claiming his first victory of 2023 at last year's Scottish Open. McIlroy has fond memories of the course and will try to continue his strong history there. However, he will face stiff competition from the likes of World No. 3 Xander Schauffele and young Swede Ludvig Aberg who are also in the field.

Golf fans in the United States have a couple viewing options to catch all the action from Scotland. Television coverage will be shared between Golf Channel and CBS throughout the tournament. Golf Channel has the first two days - Thursday and Friday - from 10:30am to 2pm Eastern time both days. CBS then picks up coverage on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 3pm ET each day alongside extra morning windows on Golf Channel.

For online streaming, ESPN+ will provide exclusive early coverage and featured group action all four days through its PGA Tour Live platform. Peacock will offer simulcasts of Golf Channel's broadcasts, while Paramount+ subscribers can stream CBS's weekend rounds.

How can I watch the Genesis Scottish Open if I don't have a subscription to any streaming services

There will be a couple options for catching the Genesis Scottish Open on your TV even if you don't have an online streaming service. The tournament is airing on the Golf Channel and CBS, so those with traditional cable/satellite can tune in.

If you've got an HD antenna hooked up, you're in luck - you can simply flip to CBS on Saturday and Sunday to enjoy the weekend action for free over the airwaves.

Current cable/satellite subscribers are also set, as both Golf Channel and CBS will likely be included already in your channel package. Just be sure to have those stations ready to go.

For cord cutters, fear not - there are a few workarounds. Live streaming services like YouTube TV, Hulu Plus Live or DirectTV Stream give you temporary access to watch, usually for a monthly fee around $65.

Another option is to contact friends or family who have access to Golf Channel through their cable connection. See if they will share momentarily so that you may see the early rounds.

And if all else fails, you may find a sports bar or restaurant showing the action on their TVs. It'll allow you to enjoy the tournament out in public without your own subscription.

So whether it's antenna, cable, borrowing login details or watching at a local pub - there's usually a way to catch the golf without forking over for ongoing streaming services. Just requires some outside-the-box thinking.
