LSU Director of Athletics Scott Woodward announced today that Jake Amos has been hired as the new head coach of the LSU men's golf program.
Amos was the head coach of the Buccaneers at East Tennessee State University for the previous five seasons before moving to Baton Rouge. Amos brought ETSU to previously unheard-of levels of success. Under his direction, the Bucs won 13 tournaments and 13 individual crowns. Additionally, ETSU made the longest run of NCAA Championship berths in school history—four straight.
Amos received the 2024 Southern Conference Coach of the Year award for his work; he had previously won the title in 2021 and 2022. Having coached four All-Americans and fifteen All-Conference picks, he departed from ETSU.
“Jake has a proven track record of success, both as a player and a coach, which makes him an exciting leader for our men’s golf program,” Woodward said. “His ability to develop elite talent and win at every stage of his career gives us confidence that he will build on our strong foundation and lead the Tigers to consistent success moving forward.”
Prior to ETSU, Amos spent time on staffs at South Carolina and Purdue, helping both schools achieve multiple NCAA Regional berths. He was a finalist for national assistant coach of the year honors on multiple occasions.
Amos says he is excited to continue LSU's championship history. He will take over a program that has enjoyed success under previous coach Chuck Winstead.
The Leicester, England native will look to continue building the Tigers program when he takes over this summer.
