In her young career, Rose Zhang has always exhibited the competitive fire and cool temperament required to thrive in big match play moments. Her star-studded amateur resume at the University of Stanford foreshadowed her readiness for the grandest stages in the women's game.
After turning pro last season, the 21-year-old continued building her winning resume, taking her first professional title. But expectations were high for her Solheim Cup debut last year in Spain. While she gained valuable experience, dropping two matches was understandably disappointing for the supremely talented Zhang.
This week in Virginia, however, she proved she has arrived as an elite Solheim Cup performer. Zhang enjoyed the finest performance of her career, captivating the massive galleries with a perfect 4-0 record. She stands alone in the history books as the only player, American or European, to finish all four matches without reaching the 17th hole.
In dissecting opponents like Carlota Ciganda, Linn Grant and Albane Valenzuela, Zhang’s shot-making, mental toughness and poise were on full display. She has long thrived in team formats as well, fueling USA victories alongside partners Lauren Coughlin and Andrea Lee. There is no doubting this rising star has cemented herself among the greats to ever represent the Stars and Stripes in this biennial battle.
The immense pressure and stakes of Solheim Cup competition did nothing to faze emerging American star Rose Zhang this week in Virginia. I can confirm the 21-year-old turned in a performance for the ages, playing a pivotal role in Team USA's triumph with a perfect 4-0 singles record.

Paired with Lauren Coughlin on Day 1, Zhang eased past Celine Boutier and Albane Valenzuela in foursomes. She teamed brilliantly with Andrea Lee in the afternoon fourballs as well, sets that helped USA seize momentum. Zhang stayed red-hot on Saturday, linking up with Lee to vanquish Linn Grant and Celine Boutier.
In Sunday's singles, all eyes were on how the budding superstar would fare against European stalwart Carlota Ciganda. As she has all week, Zhang showed steely nerves in a 6&4 victory to complete her flawless week. But she was not done, dutifully cheering Lilia Vu's half-point that clinched Cup glory.

In her post-match interview, Zhang spoke with passion about her "incredible ride" and growth alongside a supportive American team. Her four matches finished without reaching the 17th hole, a Solheim Cup record sure to stand for ages.
“It was so incredible,” Zhang said after her final match. “I just feel like the Solheim Cup reignited my passion for the game, and it was so fun to see so many people out here supporting. My teammates have been incredible. We've been having so much fun, not only off the golf course but even on it. It's just been an incredible ride.”
Make no mistake - Rose Zhang's historic performance proved pivotal in ending USA's seven-year Solheim Cup drought. If this dominant display is a glimpse into her future, the competition has something special to behold in this rising star.
