As the sun rose over the Scottish coastline at Royal Troon this week, it seemed like just another day of practice rounds and preparation ahead of the 2024 British Open. But little did we know that something truly special was about to unfold - Tiger Woods and Tom Kim, the unlikeliest of bromances, were locked in an all-morning laugh sesh on the links.
I caught wind of the pairing and rushed over to the first tee, camera in hand, hoping to capture some priceless #golfgoals content of our social media darling Tom hanging on every word from the GOAT. And boy, did they deliver. From the moment they stepped onto the course, it was impossible to tear Tom's eyes away from Tiger. He gazed on in complete wonderment as Tiger ripped drives down the fairway with his usual bomb-like precision.
Every time Tiger so much as breathed, Tom's face lit up with a grin so wide I thought it might consume his entire small head (how's that for some cheeky banter, Tom?!). You'd think he just won the Masters witnessing Tiger sink a 10-footer. At one point, Woods hit a stunning approach to three feet and I swear I saw stars in Tom's eyes as he watched Tiger drain the birdie putt.

As their round progressed, it was clear these two had formed some kind of unbreakable bond over the years. Tom fondly recalled his early fandom moments like their chance bathroom encounter at an Aussie event, where Tom was rocking his TW gear with pride. Safe to say his collection has grown exponentially since - will we ever see the day this kid isn't repping Tiger's brand?!
“He [Woods] came for the Australian — one of the tournaments, and he was walking to the bathroom … I had my TW cap on and it was so big because I had a small head at that time and it didn't fit. But he was walking literally 3 feet in front of me and I shouted, ‘Go, Tiger!’ and he tipped the cap and went in the bathroom.”
So while the rest of the Royal Troon field sweats it out ahead of Open Sunday, you can bet we'll find Kim in the gallery, cheering on his idol with the enthusiasm and admiration of a lifetime. This bromance shows no signs of fading - someone get this man his own "I'm a Tim" shirt ASAP!
