Rory McIlroy tosses 3-wood into water, and Scottie Scheffler angry after hitting over green on August 23 in the second round of the pivotal tournament in the competition for the FedEx Cup - the king of the entire PGA Tour arena in 2024.
At the 17th hole, McIlroy hit a rough on the right side of the fairway. Seeing the ball go astray, he threw the 3-wood he had just used into the lake in front of him. The throw was two-handed but light, accidentally helping the "miserable" stay on the shore. Thanks to that, the world's third-ranked golfer was still dry when he picked it up after venting his anger.
He then parred 17 and finished the same on 18 to earn a 1-under for the second round and a 3-under at par-72 Castle Pines course in Colorado. Shortly after McIlroy threw away his club, world #1 Scottie Scheffler monologues loudly on 10, likely frustrated by his second miss.
"You can see the frustration" 😬

Scottie Scheffler had hit his second shot into the water. He dropped it 102 yards from the target and hit the green but it bounced out. Scheffler immediately turned to his caddie, Ted Scott, and yelled, “Is that not enough club? Seriously?”
Then he looked around seriously and continued loudly: "How is that possible? I thought we were pin high. How? How?!? How is that possible?"

Watching that scene, Golf Channel commentary team commented that Scheffler was giving a speech.
After getting angry, Scheffler putted twice and made a double bogey on hole 10, bringing his score down to +1 in the second round. Later, he had two birdies and a bogey, the rest were all pars.
With that result, Scheffler scored -1 and finished T29 at the end of the second round. In the half-way result, McIlroy was T15 (-3), while Adam Scott was in the lead at -13.
