LIV Golf Dallas Team Championship: Schedule, Field, Teams, Prize money, Purse, Where to watch, TV coverage

LIV Golf Dallas Team Championship: Schedule, Field, Teams, Prize money, Purse, Where to watch, TV coverage

After securing his first individual LIV Golf victory at last week's Chicago tournament, Jon Rahm topped the season-long points race to claim the Number 1 spot. However, the Spaniard will shift his focus to team championships this week in Dallas as captain of Legion XIII.

While Rahm delivered stellar play throughout the inaugural LIV Golf season, his squad enters the Dallas Team Championship looking up at defending champions Crushers led by Bryson DeChambeau. Both Legion XIII and Crushers have earned byes into the semifinals, along with the red-hot Australian unit Ripper GC.

The three-day Dallas event kicks off the playoffs featuring new team formats of singles, foursomes and stroke play. A hefty $50 million purse is on the line, including $16 million for the championship-winning quartet.

Due to the entry of Jon Rahm's new Legion XIII squad, Brooks Koepka's Smash squad has lost its first-round bye in the Dallas playoffs. However, as the number four seed, Koepka will have first choice of opponents for the quarterfinals on Friday.

Joining Smash seeded 5th through 13th in the initial quarterfinal round will be Joaquin Niemann's Torque, Sergio Garcia's Fireballs, Louis Oosthuizen's Stinger and Martin Kaymer's Cleeks. Those captains will then select their matchups in order of seeding after Koepka makes the first selection.

A change for the Dallas Team Championship playoffs will allow captains more freedom in choosing their lineups. Rather than automatic singles matches between opposing captains, teams can now slot their golfers in any order across singles and foursomes matches on Friday and Saturday.

The traditional format saw captains go head-to-head while the other three members played as partners. Now with complete flexibility, captains like Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau hold the key to maximizing their side's chances in each must-win match.

The low-scoring team from each match will advance, with the semifinals and finals looking to be tactical chess matches. All 13 teams will then return to the more familiar stroke play format on Sunday's final day. Scores will combine within each four-man team, with the lowest overall squad raising the inaugural LIV Golf Team Championship trophy.

The new selection process adds another layer of intrigue to LIV Golf's climactic season finale in Dallas this week.
