New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, an avid golfer himself, had some thoughts on the back-and-forth between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden over their golf abilities.

In a recent appearance on the "Pardon My Take" podcast, Rodgers weighed in on the viral moment from the last presidential debate when Trump and Biden traded barbs about who was the better golfer.

"When they started talking about golf – Trump actually just said recently $1 million he would give Joe 10 strokes a side," Rodgers said.

It started when Trump boasted about his victories in club championships and challenged Biden to a golf match. Biden quipped in response, "You gotta carry your own bag," implying Trump often uses a caddy to help him on the course.

Rodgers said he thought Biden's retort was an "under the radar" line that was quite funny. "This is a guy who couldn’t even walk off the stage. He couldn’t even walk off the stage, but, ‘Yeah, you gotta carry your own bag, Trump," Rodgers recalled Biden saying.

The exchange continued when Trump later publicly challenged Biden to a $1 million charity match at Trump's golf course in Doral, Florida. However, Rodgers was skeptical Trump could even manage 18 holes himself.

"I’m also officially challenging ‘Crooked Joe’ to an 18-hole golf match right here on Doral’s Blue Monster, considered one of the greatest tournament golf courses anywhere in the world," Trump told the rally crowd, via The New York Post. "It will be among the most-watched sporting events in history."

To me, Aaron Rodgers is right, the way Trump struggles to walk down a ramp these days, it's questionable if he could physically play 18 holes. But it did make for some entertaining debate theater between two guys who clearly like to talk a good game about their golf prowess.

As an avid golfer himself, Rodgers considers himself somewhat of an expert on the game. He told podcast hosts he thinks a different sport might be a better way for Trump and Biden to settle their dispute once and for all.

"I say get them in singlets, let them wrestle it out," Rodgers proposed. A nice match on the wrestling mat would be more entertaining than watching these two try to walk 18 holes at this point in their lives.

Whether it's on the links or wrestling mat, Rodgers verdict is that future trash talk between politicians is best kept to verbal jabs only. But their golf debate did provide some lighthearted comic relief during an otherwise tense election season.

So in summary - while the golf dispute rages on, Rodgers believes the only true way to settle the score is in the wrestling ring. Biden vs Trump grimace matches - who says no?
