Trump aides alarmed he’s 'just golfing all day and stewing' as election slips away

Trump aides alarmed he’s 'just golfing all day and stewing' as election slips away

It seems like someone needs to take Donald Trump's golf clubs away - sources close to the Trump campaign tell me that aides have their hands full trying to wrangle the ex-commander-in-chief off the greens and onto the grassroots campaign trail. But according to leaked internal reports, Trump would rather finish his back-nine than face the crowds and focus on policy.

Sources say Trump has been playing almost daily since touching down at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf course, blowing off meetings to squeeze in 18 holes. Can't say I blame him - who wouldn't prefer putts over politicking, especially when the polls aren't looking too hot. But the desperation is real, folks. Staffers are pulling their hair out trying to get Trump fired up for fundraisers and whistle stops now that Joe Biden's been subbed out for Kamala Harris.

Even the ever-loyal Alyssa Farah, former flack who used to make excuses for White House mishegas, says Trump seems "low-energy" and "phone it in."

“The stakes for Trump this election are arguably the highest they’ve ever been. His criminal cases don’t go away if he loses. Yet he seems to be phoning it in, running a remarkably low-energy, undisciplined campaign,” Former Trump White House spokesperson Alyssa Farah Griffin told The Post.

“From spending days off the campaign trail golfing to coming up with frankly weak nicknames like ‘Kamabala,’ it feels like he’s lost his mojo,” she added.

Ouch! When the MAGA base starts turning on you, it's time to rethink the game plan. Sources say Trump gets all bent out of shape watching the Democratic National Convention on TV instead of shaping his own narrative. Looks like somebody needs to work on their short game!

Campaign spox Steve Cheung fired back at the reports of Trump slacking off, calling his schedule "robust" and full of substantive policy discussions.

“He spent the entire week discussing substantive policy, something that Kamala Harris refuses to do, or can’t do,” he said.

But sources say Trump would rather rip it up at a rally than bore the masses with policy dryness. Who can blame him - spreading vision is more fun than minutiae.

That's why in El Paso, Trump went after the Democratic party's Vice Presidential pick instead of Harris' border stances. And on Wednesday, Trump even laughed off his aides' pleas for more policy focus and less slams. Looks like he's content to keep it casual out there.

In Vegas last Friday when Trump teed off on the press about the Veep swap. First he bragged that the change hadn't phased him one bit and that he was winning bigly.

But just like that, his mood soured and he cried foul about the late sub. "I spent $100 million fighting against a man that won in their party, and we had a debate and the debate was good for me,” he told reporters. “And then all of a sudden they take him out and they put somebody new in that never got a vote," Trump fumed to the media huddle.

If Trump wants to make a comeback, he'd better dial up the intensity - name calling about "Kamabala" just isn't going to cut it. Time to put some power behind those policy proposals, or else he'll keep landing in the rough. It's do or die for Trump, unless he wants to spend 2025 working on that handicap instead of a 2024 campaign. The midterms might be the only thing that can save him - but only if he tees it up!

That's all for now, folks. Fingers crossed I've got more juicy gossip to dish soon! In the meantime, why not give me a follow for all the latest in golf antics, political hot takes and meme-able tour moments. This election season is just heating up!
