Illinois State men's golf icon D.A. Weibring will continue adding to his illustrious career later this year when he gets inducted into the 2024 Texas Golf Hall of Fame class.
Former Illinois State golfer and PGA Tour professional D.A. Weibring.
Weibring, a native of Quincy, Illinois who has called Texas home for over 45 years, will be honored at a ceremony in October at the historic Houston Country Club. Along with this year's class, he'll have his accomplishments immortalized with markers at golf courses in San Antonio and Frisco.
The Illinois State alumnus enjoyed tremendous success in professional golf, racking up 13 tour wins worldwide that included a major victory at the 2008 Senior PGA Championship. He's already been inducted into numerous halls of fame for his impressive resume on the course.
As founder of Golf Resources, Weibring has left his signature on over 100 redesigns globally, like the famous TPC venues that host PGA Tour events in Illinois and Texas.
He's also remained a stalwart supporter of his alma mater. Weibring has donated over $1.5 million to Redbird men's and women's golf programs. In 2007, Illinois State renamed their home course in his honor in recognition of all he's done.
"D.A. Weibring is a fantastic representative of being RB4L and we are glad to have him as a Redbird," said ISU Athletics Director Jeri Beggs. "This honor of him joining the Texas Golf Hall of Fame is extremely well deserved and adds to his long list of accolades. We cannot say thank you enough to D.A. for all he has done for ISU Athletics and his continued involvement with Redbird Golf to this day."
With this latest induction, Weibring cements his status as a legend of the game who's impacted Illinois State and Texas golf in a major way.
